Help Center - Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need help? Below are the questions we are often asked. Maybe the answer to your question is among them; if not, send us an email on the contact page.
Is playing Solitaire at FreeSolitaire.com free?
Yes! On this website, you can play Solitaire instantly and entirely for free. There is no need for complicated registrations or payment methods. It is genuinely free.
Is every game of Klondike Solitaire winnable?
Actually, no. Surprisingly, sometimes winning isn't possible based on how the cards are dealt. It is theorized that players can win about 80% of all games dealt. However, think about it… There are an extraordinarily large number of ways the card can fall during the deal—in fact, a staggering 8 with 67 zeros behind it. Only about 20% are impossible to win of all these possible combinations. Human players win about 50% of their games in practice—not bad! Occasionally, you won't be able to make any moves in a game, and it will be immediately unplayable after the cards have been dealt. Should this happen, you should try to feel lucky as this happens in only one out of every 400 deals.
Do you create the games for the website? Can I make a suggestion?
We make most of the games featured on our website ourselves. Sometimes we also use those from outside vendors with permission. Of course you can make a suggestion. As game creators and gamers, we always have an eye on what can improve our players' gaming and website experience. We are also interested in potential ways to expand our range of games. Is there a (card) game you love and want to see here? Let us know, and we'll see if we can expand our range to include this game.
Are Solitaire and the other games from FreeSolitaire.com also playable on a smartphone or tablet?
Of course! Naturally, all our games are responsive and playable on all devices and screen sizes. An automatic size adjustment will ensure that you don't have to zoom to get a good view. We don't want anything to hinder your gaming enjoyment! With this in mind, if you ever notice that Solitaire or another game isn't running correctly on one of your devices, just let us know! If you can detail the problem, we will do our very best to fix it for you. Chances are if you have a problem, others do too—and we do not want that!
Is Solitaire online safe to play here?
Yes, it is safe. You can play Solitaire, along with our other games, with no concerns about privacy or security. Our games can be played 100% safely, with no risk of malicious software or other problems. Fortunately, this is entirely possible today thanks to HTML 5, which has made significant advances in technology. Previously, online games often used Adobe Flash, which was prone to crashes, delays, and missing updates. Fortunately, HTML 5 exhibits none of these drawbacks and instantly displays every game well, regardless of the device. Also, since creating an account is not necessary to play here, you will not need to enter any personal data, therefore your identity and information can never be compromised or intercepted.
A game isn't working (properly). What should I do?
How annoying! While our games are extensively tested and should display well on virtually any device and in any browser, issues can happen. If something is awry with your game, it sometimes helps to try it in a different Internet browser. Some examples of alternative browsers include Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.
If this doesn't work and you are still having a problem, you can try the next steps:
1. Clear your browsers cache and reload the game with the key combination CTRL + SHIFT + DELETE; press all keys at once and follow the menu (On a Mac use COMMAND + OPTION + E).
2. Have you tried a different browser to no avail? Don't worry. Browsers can become outdated, and it may be necessary to update your current browser for successful gameplay. Typically, with your browser open, you can find a button in the upper right corner of your screen that allows you to access the browser's settings. Generally, you will be directed to the option to update the browser. You should do this periodically even if you are not having a problem with our games, as it is safer to update your browser regularly.
3. Check what operating system you're using. We know that older operating systems can sometimes experience problems running our games. Windows Vista (2007) or Mac OS X 10.6 (2008) are examples.
4. Have you tried all of these fixes, and you're still having a problem accessing a working game? We want you to be able to play our games! Please get in touch with us, and we will be happy to look into how we can get things working for you.
